MAIN NHS Tayside commended for ‘exceptional’ donor support

A recent report from NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has highlighted the level of care provided locally in relation to organ donation.

At what is a difficult time, NHS Tayside has been commended for the level of support it provides to families throughout the organ donation process.

Clinical Lead for Organ Donation Dr Pauline Austin said, “Our team goes above and beyond to provide the very best level of care and compassion to families at an extremely difficult time.

“We greatly depend on the generosity of donors who are willing to make this life-saving gift to others.

“Giving the gift of life is so important, and something that you should discuss with your partner, families and friends so that they know your wishes.”

Lots of people think they would be unsuitable to donate organs and tissues because of their medical history or lifestyle choices, but each potential donor is individually assessed and people from all ethnicities and backgrounds are invited to register.

It only takes a few minutes to join the register and one donor can potentially save or transform up to nine lives. To help save even more lives in 2020 join the Organ Donor Register by visiting http://organdonationscotland.org/
