Impact of Poverty awareness course

Impact of Poverty awareness course.pngFamily nurses, midwives and health visitors are invited to attend a workshop focusing on the impact of poverty.

The half-day awareness raising course explores the experience of people living in poverty.

The aim is for participants to be able to make the links between how services are delivered and feelings of stigma and exclusion. For service users, these feelings may impact on accessibility for services or feelings of being judged for requiring services.

The learning outcomes are:

  • Raising awareness of poverty, including in-work poverty
  • Reducing the stigma associated with living in poverty
  • Supporting poverty and inequalities sensitive practice
  • Raising awareness of how to signpost people in poverty to sources of support

The dates for the course are:

  • Thursday 3 October, 9.15am to 12.45pm – Training Rooms, Angus House, Forfar
  • Tuesday 29 October, 9.15am to 12.45pm – Employability Unit, Dunsinane Avenue, Dundee

There are 12 places on each workshop which will be allocated on a first come basis. Please book your place by emailing hwl-workplaceprog.tayside@nhs.net

This training is delivered by NHS Tayside’s workplace team in partnership with Angus Council, Dundee City Council and Perth & Kinross Council Welfare Rights Teams.
