Staff should be aware that the corridor between the current paediatric theatre (Ward 30) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Ward 40) at Ninewells will be temporarily closed to allow essential building work to take place. There will be no access through this corridor from Monday 22 July until Sunday 6 October and temporary diversion signs are in place.
This is in addition to information circulated recently about the closure of the Tayside Children’s Hospital entrance and the small car park directly outside on Monday 22 July to allow advanced enabling work to take place as part of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Children’s Theatre Suite projects.
NICU has temporarily moved to Ward 31 and there is an alternative access for Ward 30 (see image below). Please follow the new direction signs on display to guide you during this period.
Meetings have been held with individal wards, departments and services that are directly affected by this closure, including the crash team.
We have been working closely with our fire safety officers to ensure that fire strategies, where appropriate, have been amended to take account of the temporary corridor closure to allow safe evacuation in the event of a fire.
Any member of staff who has concerns about how this corridor closure might affect them should speak to their line manager in the first instance.
