Work is progressing well on the telephone system replacement and the project team has now installed more than 4500 of the new IP telephones throughout NHS Tayside.
The following sites are now complete:
- Ninewells Hospital
- Carseview Centre
- Constitution House
- Alloway Centre
- Dundee Dental Hospital
- Maryfield House
Please raise a Service Desk Ticket if a staff member at any of the sites detailed above still has an old handset, or if you feel a room has been missed.
Important Information regarding alarms that use old telephone lines
The shutdown of the old telephone equipment will soon begin at the sites listed above, so it is essential that you let the team know if you are using a telephone line for any non-telephone usage for example intruder alarms, blood fridges, fire alarms, modems, etc.
Please raise a Service Desk Ticket to let the team know this information as soon as possible as once the old telephone equipment is switched off these alarms will no longer work.
Use extension numbers whenever possible
Staff are reminded that all calls to colleagues in Tayside should be made using their five digit extension number for example 57237.
This is important as there is no cost to the organisation if the five digit extension number is used. However, all external calls made to colleagues using a direct dial number and an area code such as 01382 647237 will incur a charge.
It is easy to find a colleague’s five digit extension number – click on the Directories tab on Staffnet then enter the name you are looking for.
Update your extension number
Remember to update your extension number listed on directories as this will ensure your colleagues can contact you using your extension number.
In addition, please ensure your extension number is included in your e-mail signature.
Update your voicemail
Please note if you had voicemail previously set-up on your old phone, this will need to be set up again on your new handset. The old system of checking voicemail by dialling 33700 will not work with the new IP handsets.
Details on how to set up your new voicemail can be found in the user guide that has been left with each handset.
The message waiting lamp will alert you when there is a new voicemail message.
