NHS Tayside is encouraging staff to participate in the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) Healthy Eating Week which runs from 10 to 14 June.
Healthy Eating Week is a nationwide campaign which focuses on healthy eating and drinking, physical activity and healthy living. It sets out a different challenge for each of the five days:
Day 1 – Eat a healthy breakfast – go for wholegrain or higher fibre foods, include a drink and at least one of your five a day
Day 2 – Five portions of fruit or vegetables a day – choose a variety
Day 3 – Drink plenty – have at least six-eight unsweetened drinks every day – water is a great choice
Day 4 – Increase exercise – move more
Day 5 – Sleep well – get the sleep you need every night – get into a good bedtime routine
There will be an information stall at the Level 5 restaurant at Ninewells Hospital during the week and staff from Occupational Health will be there daily from 12.30pm to 1.30pm to provide support.
You can also get more information from the Occupational Health Staffnet site by following the path Our Websites | Occupational Health.
The challenge information will be available in all NHS Tayside food retail sites between 10 and 14 June.
Staff attending appointments at Occupational Health will be offered a selection of fruit, cereals and a bottle of water following their consultation.
