2019 marks the 100th anniversary of Learning Disability Nursing. To celebrate, the community team held events in Ninewells Hospital to raise awareness of Learning Disability Nursing and celebrate the unique contribution that this speciality makes to the field of nursing and the wider community.
The Learning Disability nursing community team celebrated with students, mentors and past senior staff. The event allowed students and new practitioners to ask questions and discuss current and past practice.
The community team will be holding an information session in the Overgate shopping centre on Friday, 17 May from 10.30 – 3.30pm.
Learning Disability nurses work in partnership with people who have learning disabilities, their families and carers. Their aim is to ensure everyone they work with is provided with the necessary tools and develops individually to fulfil their potential in all aspects of their lives, irrespective of their age, abilities, behaviours and lifestyles.
