Parents and relatives who have lost a child are invited to join a service of thanksgiving and remembrance in Dundee University Chaplaincy Centre on Thursday, 2 May at 7.30pm.
The service will include music, readings, prayer, reflection time and the lighting of candles in memory of those who have died. Refreshments will be served after the service.
The Children’s Memorial Service has been organised by NHS Tayside’s Department of Spiritual Care, with support from the stillbirth and neonatal death charity SANDS. The service is open to anyone regardless of faith and belief.
Healthcare chaplain Andrew Bennett said, “The death of a child is an experience that causes great emotional pain and distress for family and friends.
“The Children’s Memorial Service is a valued opportunity to gather with others who have had similar experiences. In a supportive environment people can pause and reflect. It offers space to acknowledge your loss, and to renew precious memories.”
