Westgate Medical Practice is opening its seventh art show on Friday (19 April) giving local artists an opportunity to display their work in the practice’s waiting areas and corridors.
The sales exhibition is part of Westgate’s ongoing support to its ‘twin’ health clinic in Malawi.
The annual art display, which remains popular with patients and staff, was originally suggested by Jacqueline Wilson, a member of the Patient Advisory Group. Around 20 local artists are participating in this year’s show which once again has been organised by local artist Joe McIntyre.
Westgate Medical Practice’s Malawian twinning charity will receive 25% of any sale made and around 100 paintings will be on display in this year’s show. Since the start of these sale exhibitions, a total of 124 paintings have been sold.
Westgate Practice Director Sam Riddell said, “The team at Westgate is once again delighted to provide another opportunity for showcasing local artistic talent, with the added benefit of supporting the work we are doing with our ‘twin’ health clinic in Zomba, Malawi.”
