Ice machine donated to ward 1 at Ninewells
Former patient Audrey Hood returned to ward 1 at Ninewells to present a donation to staff.
Audrey, who is from Arbroath, was discharged from ward 1 at Ninewells in December and has been busy fundraising ever since. She raised enough money to buy an ice machine which she has donated to the ward.
Senior charge nurse Susan Longmuir said, “A huge thank you to Audrey for her thoughtfulness and generosity. The ice machine will benefit patients especially during the summer months.”
Rock night fundraiser for ward 19
Ward 19 was presented with a cheque for over £1,300 by a former patient who held a fundraising evening.
Iain Wallace, one of the ward’s first major trauma patients, lost a limb following an accident where his motorcycle was struck by a car at traffic lights, tragically losing his lower right leg.
Iain, who is also president of Tribe Tayside motorcycle club, along with his family and friends held a rock night and raised over £1,300.
Iain said, “I wanted to give something back to the ward where I received rehabilitation following my limb fitting. Several of the nurses attended the rock night and everyone had a fantastic time.”
Senior charge nurse Billy Gibson accepted the cheque on behalf of the ward and said, “This gentleman experienced a life changing traumatic injury following his accident. His determination to regain independence following this was an inspiration to the team who helped him through this difficult time.
“The ward team really appreciate the efforts that he has made to show his support to them, but the reward is always seeing patients moving forward with their lives after such a sudden change in circumstances.”
