Contacting a patient who is deaf and communicates by sign language?

NHS Tayside’s Interpretation & Translation Service has arranged for BSL Contact Scotland to deliver workshops for all NHS Tayside and Health & Social Care Partnership staff to find out how to make their service accessible to the Deaf community.

Contact Scotland BSL is a Scottish Government service that connects Deaf BSL users throughout Scotland through an online BSL interpreting video relay service (VRS) with all of Scotland’s public authorities and voluntary organisations (Third Sector).

With one in six of the population being deaf, we provide an easy and flexible way of interacting with deaf BSL users who use and access your services. Deaf people can contact you and you can contact deaf people.

The workshops will take place on Thursday 28 February at the Improvement Academy, Ninewells. You only need to attend one session:

Session 1 – 2.30 pm
Session 2 – 3.30 pm

To book a place, please contact Jenni Philips, Interpretation & Translation Service, on 01382 423094, x 71121 or jphillips8@nhs.net
