Perth & Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership would like to thank everyone who responded to the request in LowDown Issue 48 for additional temporary support within the Prison Healthcare team.
Thirty four people came forward to offer additional support and a number of shadowing shifts are now planned thanks to the Nurse Bank office which is providing support with the co-ordination of additional staff.
The Prison Healthcare Service, which provides healthcare to the residents of HMP Perth and HMP Castle Huntly, has been experiencing significant additional pressures due to substantial increases in prisoner population.
Considerable progress has been made in developing a high quality, sustainable service in these challenging times. The commitment and dedication from the clinical and non-clinical staff has been exceptional and thanks are extended to the whole team.
The Prison Healthcare Team are still keen to hear from any healthcare support worker, qualified nurse or GP who may be interested in working additional sessions on a consistent basis over the next three months. Please contact Head of Nursing Dawn Wigley on 01738 458134 or 458118 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Previous experience of Prison Healthcare is not essential. All staff will receive Scottish Prison Service training including personal protection, radio, security and key training.
