A new drop-in clinic for hearing aid users is now available in Monifieth.
The free drop-in re-tubing clinic and replacement battery service was launched last year in Kirriemuir, Arbroath, Montrose and Forfar. The new service will now also be available at Monifieth Library from Thursday, 31 January.
These drop-in clinics are part of a Tayside-wide service which is delivered by NHS hearing aid support volunteers who have been trained by NHS Tayside’s Audiology Service to renew the tubing in ear moulds and replace batteries for NHS hearing aid users. Unfortunately volunteers are unable to re-tube open fit aids which have the thin wire with the tip in ear.
It is important that hearing aid users bring along their yellow book as this is required to receive new batteries. Replacement batteries are now also available from all Angus libraries.
Samantha Batty, head of service for NHS Tayside’s audiology and balance service, said, “We are very pleased that we have dedicated volunteers who have taken on this role with the support from the NHS Tayside’s audiology team.
“Hearing aid users have found it helpful that we have drop-in clinics at various locations across the county, and we are pleased that we can now also offer this service in Monifieth.”
Drop-in clinics are being held in Angus for re-tubing of mould type hearing aids and replacement batteries at:
Monifieth Library – Last Thursday of every month from 10am to noon.
