Neonatal staff at Ninewells marked World Prematurity Day with a celebration event in the neonatal unit.
The team in Ward 40 hosted an information stall in the reception area decorated in purple bunting and balloons, the official colour for the day. Staff wore the purple ‘World Prematurity Day’ t-shirts and answered questions from visitors.
Senior charge nurse Alison Findlay said, “We had a great two days as we also celebrated the day before the official event, and there were lots of people who came to visit us once word got out via social media.
“All the babies in the unit wore purple knitted hats donated by our BLISS volunteer Heather. The knitted goods were greatly appreciated as was the large celebration cake and home bakes supplied by our BLISS volunteers.
“We had a prize number board and a parent won first prize of a kid’s edition Kindle which was kindly donated to us by a parent.
“We’d like to say thank you to everyone who supported us and made this a wonderful World Prematurity Day.”
