Nurse Director Gillian Costello has decided to retire from NHS Tayside at the end of March 2019.
Throughout her career spanning 38 years, Gillian has always maintained a very strong connection with all staff, clinical and non-clinical. Indeed, even in her role as Nurse Director and as a Board member of NHS Tayside, she is still often to be found carrying out duties in wards and departments across the area.
Chairman John Brown said, “Gillian will be a great loss to the Board of NHS Tayside. Her professionalism, passion and commitment to nursing in Tayside – and beyond – is always to the fore and she is an inspiring leader and role model for all our nursing, midwife and allied health professions colleagues, as well as student nurses.”
Chief Executive Malcolm Wright added, “Gillian has built a strong professional nursing leadership team over the past few years in Tayside and she continues to strive every day to ensure our patients and their families receive high-quality, person-centred care.
“Personally, she has been a huge support to John and I since we arrived in Tayside earlier this year. We would like to thank her for her continuing positive contribution to NHS Tayside and her unwavering dedication to people from across Tayside who require our care.”
The Chief Executive is now in contact with the Chief Nursing Officer who is assisting with the recruitment of a new Nurse Director.
