Volunteering Services in Ninewells is offering information sessions to staff on the support and benefits provided by volunteers.
The new Staff Engagement with Volunteer sessions focus on volunteers’ roles, benefits to patients and staff of having volunteers in their area, how to prepare staff to support volunteers and how the Volunteering Services team can support you to work with volunteers.
Lasting between 20 and 30 minutes, the sessions are aimed at staff who are planning on introducing volunteers in their area or who already have volunteers.
There is a mix of interactive discussion, information and practice scenarios which can be delivered to small numbers of staff within the ward, department area or in a meeting room. Volunteering staff can deliver as many sessions in your area as required to include all staff.
Feedback has been very positive with staff welcoming the opportunity to discuss volunteering from staff, volunteers’ and patients’ perspectives, and the benefits of having volunteers. Volunteers in areas which have taken part in these sessions have also commented that their experience is enhanced as a result, helping them to feel valued and provide a better service to patients.
