The East of Scotland Major Trauma Centre at Ninewells will be officially opened on Monday, 19 November.
The new Scottish Trauma Network will consist of four centres across Scotland at Ninewells (East), Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (South East), Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (North) and Queen Elizabeth in Glasgow (West). This will create a trauma network where the most seriously injured patients will receive the best specialist treatment and rehabilitation.
The overall aim of the Scottish Trauma Network is ‘Saving lives. Giving life back’ by providing an integrated pathway of specialist care for the most seriously injured patients to help save more lives and improve the lives of patients throughout the trauma pathway.
The centre at Ninewells will be the second Major Trauma Centre to open in Scotland. The first centre was opened at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Monday, 1 October by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport Jeane Freeman.
