Last winter we all felt the strain with a big increase in patients being admitted with flu. This put additional pressure on our services during an already busy period and our staff worked tirelessly to cope with the increased demand. By getting vaccinated early against flu staff can ensure that they protect themselves and others and help keep services running over the busy winter period.
Nearly 2500 staff across Tayside have already taken up the offer of a free flu vaccination through our clinic sessions, peer vaccination and at community pharmacies. Have you had yours?
Details of clinics for staff and volunteers, as well as local community pharmacies offering the jab, are listed below. Please contact your pharmacy to arrange a time and remember to bring your staff ID badge.
Consultant in Public Health Dr Daniel Chandler said, “The flu jab is the best way to protect yourself, your patients and your family. Vaccination helps stop the spread of flu, reducing the risk of serious illness and preventing outbreaks in hospitals and the community.
“We all have a duty to ensure those in our care are safe and protected. And if there’s another bad flu season this winter, we’ll all feel the strain. By getting the flu vaccination you can play your part in ensuring NHS Tayside is ready to fight flu this winter.”
For a fun way to get more information why not play our Flu Bee Game. It will help you learn more about the vaccine and where you can get it in Tayside.
You can play on your phone, computer, laptop or tablet. It does not need to be downloaded to your device and no personal information is collected in the game.
It only takes a few minutes and it’s fun!
