Antimicrobial staff from NHS Tayside were commended for their work at the recent national Antibiotic Guardian Awards ceremony.
The awards, which took place in London, celebrate the work of healthcare professionals in tackling antimicrobial resistance and form part of the ongoing Antibiotic Guardian campaign.
Advanced nurse practitioner – antimicrobial stewardship Jo McEwen and advanced antimicrobial pharmacist Heather Kennedy were commended in the Prescribing and Stewardship category for their work implementing a pilot Non Medical Prescriber (NMP) role into the existing bacteraemia service.
Jo was also shortlisted for another award in the Prescribing and Stewardship category alongside lead pharmacist prescribing support Hazel Steele for their work within care homes to improve prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections. Specialist pharmacy technician Sarah Thomson was shortlisted in the public engagement category for the 2017 NHS Tayside Rocks project.
