Learning Disability Week will be launched in Perth & Kinross this year with a celebratory event at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth on Monday 14 May between 10am and noon.
Learning Disability Week (14-20 May) celebrates the lives and talents of people with learning disabilities in Scotland. The theme this year is My Generation because 2018 is the Year of Young People in Scotland.
The theme aims to focus on the experiences of young people as well as to encourage people with learning disabilities of all ages to reflect on the things that summed up their younger lives.
A series of events will take place throughout the week and throughout the Perth & Kinross area.
No matter what young people want to focus on during Learning Disability Week, there will be lots of opportunities to get these messages out there.
Perth & Kinross Council’s Housing and Communities Convener, Councillor Peter Barrett said, “Learning Disability Week gives individuals a fantastic opportunity to come together and celebrate the huge range of talents and achievements of people with learning disabilities in Perth & Kinross.”
