The art gallery in The Pavilion @ Stracathro café in the grounds of Stracathro Hospital is hosting a new art exhibition which will run throughout May and June.
The exhibition features the work of Brechin artist Susan Payne. Susan has lived in Cornwall, Aberdeen and Spain before moving to Brechin and uses her experience to inspire her work.
Speaking about her work, Susan said, “I joined a local art group when I moved to Brechin and now belong to several in the Angus area. It was with the Brechin group that I was first introduced to acrylics and painting landscapes.
“My passion is for landscape. Using an impasto technique, I try to evoke an atmosphere that truly represents the rugged, dramatic, yet scenic, coastlines of both Scotland and Cornwall.”
The exhibitions at the café are changed approximately every eight weeks and local artists are invited to display their work. The café is open Monday to Friday from 8am until 4pm.
The majority of the art on display at the gallery is for sale, with each participating artist donating 20% commission of sales to Stracathro Hospital. All money raised is used to enhance the Stracathro Hospital environment for patients and visitors.
