Blood cancer charity Bloodwise is holding a fundraising Balloon Walk on Sunday, 15 April at 9.45am.
The family friendly event is a peaceful 3-mile walk through Callendar Park in Falkirk to remember and honour loved ones affected by blood cancer. It will also help fund life-saving research and vital support for people affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.
Entry is £15 for adults and £5 for children. This includes a Bloodwise t-shirt and refreshments in Callendar House after the walk, where you can view exhibitions about its fascinating history and learn all about life ‘below stairs’ in the working kitchen of 1825 where an iconic scene of television series Outlander was filmed.
Blood cancer is the UK’s fifth most common cancer, and the most common cancer in children and young people. Blood cancer research is saving lives; today, two thirds of everyone diagnosed with blood cancer will still be with us in five years’ time. When Bloodwise were founded in 1960, almost no-one survived for this long.
