HNC in Health Care & Pre-Registration Nursing

NHS Tayside is offering sponsored places on the HNC Health Care & Pre-Registration Nursing Programme 2018 at Dundee & Angus College.

The course is designed to meet the development needs of nursing healthcare support workers and healthcare assistants currently employed within the organisation and wishing to undertake pre-registration nurse education.

The HNC programme in Year 1 consists of attendance at Dundee & Angus College for two days a week supported by appropriate study leave, in addition to clinical practice experience, the majority of which will be undertaken in your current place of work, and additional practice placements as required.

On successful completion of the HNC Care & Administrative Practice sponsored students will gain direct entry into Year 2 of the BSc Nursing Programme (Adult or Mental Health Fields) at the University of Dundee, or Year 2 of the BN Nursing Programme (Learning Disabilities Field) at Edinburgh Napier University. Following completion of the 3 year programme, participants are guaranteed a post as a registered nurse within NHS Tayside.

Applications are now invited from nursing healthcare support workers/healthcare assistants who wish to be considered to undertake the HNC programme commencing in August 2018. Prospective candidates must be current employees of NHS Tayside, with one year’s nursing experience, have evidence of continuous development and must have the full support of their line manager.

HNC Programme Awareness Sessions for prospective candidates and their managers are being held on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 28 February 2018 from 2-4pm within Seminar Room C, Level 7, Ninewells
  • Thursday 8 March 2018 from 2-4pm within Seminar Room C, Level 7, Ninewells
